You use cornrow and braid interchangeably. Is there a difference?
Yes. A cornrow is braided to the scalp, where as a braid is free from the scalp. Though all cornrows are braids, not all braids are cornrows. In regards to styles the page uses them interchangeably, however , there is distinction between the two. If you did not know this before, this project may not be for you.

What is the purpose of this project?
The purpose of this project is multifold - however, the main purposes are to ensure Black people are able to build community, build understanding of the worlds within and around us, and build ourselves through braiding cornrows and conversation.
How can I help?
Sadly, there are not many stock photos of Black people with cornrows. Also, many cornrowed styles do not have the braider credited. We would LOVE if you could send your photos with you in braids and/or cornrows to share on the website and for other people to know how to find you, especially if you’re the braider. Please ask braiders you love to share, too, which they can here.
